Claude Opus 5.5 edits a full YouTube video from camera footage and a reference video using FFmpeg and Remotion.
What the setup does.
Your editor or your team drops raw footage into a folder, and the agent returns a cut you can review.
- Rough cut: transcribes the footage, removes pauses, filler and repeated takes, and keeps the best take
- Audio: cleans up audio and levels loudness
- B-roll and graphics: finds and places B-roll, and builds titles and simple motion graphics with Remotion
- Captions: burned-in captions or an .srt file
- Shorts: cuts vertical clips from the long video
- Video QA: checks the export for black frames, silence, audio peaks and wrong aspect ratios before anything ships

The agent works from a written editing skill: your pacing, your B-roll style, your intro and outro, and the mistakes you never want repeated. Every round of notes goes back into the skill, so the second video starts closer to finished than the first.

Can Codex edit videos?

My 10-minute YouTube video took Codex about 26 minutes. Longer edits with motion graphics take 30 to 40 minutes of agent time. You review it and give notes, usually once.
